Update: MediSecure Data Breach | Healthcare Prescriptions Unaffected

MediSecure Data Breach Incident Update

The Guild has received an update on the MediSecure data breach incident. The National Office of Cyber Security (NOCS) continues to lead the national response and provide guidance on the situation.

Healthcare providers can continue to prescribe and dispense as usual. This incident does not affect the eRx Script Exchange (eRx) or the National Prescription Delivery Service (NPDS), which continue to operate as normal.

An updated public statement was released on Friday on the NOCS LinkedIn and X social media accounts. If any individuals are at risk of their information being published, the NOCS will collaborate with MediSecure and the affected individuals to ensure they are protected from any further risk.

Further Information for Patients

As previously advised, both paper and electronic prescriptions continue to function as normal. Patients can still access medicines, and doctors and pharmacists can continue their usual activities.

Individuals concerned about the impact of the incident should visit the Department of Home Affairs’ MediSecure public advice webpage for the latest information. Those who believe their information has been misused should report it to ReportCyber at cyber.gov.au.
