Introducing Hormonal Contraception Consultations at Cate’s Chemist
At Cate’s Chemist, we are excited to announce our participation in a pilot program that allows pharmacists to provide consultations and prescribe hormonal contraception. This initiative is part of the Queensland Community Pharmacy Hormonal Contraception Pilot, aimed at improving access to essential healthcare services for women and girls aged 16 years and older.
What This Means for You
Women in Queensland now have the convenience of visiting participating pharmacies, like Cate’s Chemist, to receive expert advice on hormonal contraception. Our trained pharmacists can prescribe a range of contraceptive options, including:
- Oral contraceptives: Both combined oral contraceptive pills and progesterone-only pills.
- Injected contraceptive: Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate.
- Vaginal ring: A combined hormonal contraceptive option.
Why This Matters
Access to contraception has often been challenging, especially for women in regional and rural communities. By offering this service in pharmacies, we help reduce geographical and time barriers, making it easier for women to manage their reproductive health.
What to Expect
Pharmacists participating in this pilot have undergone additional clinical training to ensure they can safely manage and prescribe contraceptive options. Our consultation process will be thorough, ensuring you receive the best advice tailored to your individual needs.
When Is This Available?
Cate’s Chemist Garbutt and Hyde Park are already offering this service. This pilot program represents a significant step forward in women’s healthcare, and we’re proud to be at the forefront of this important initiative.
